Season 5, Episode #112
Neuroscientist. Soccer Player. Literacy Advocate. $1.3M Scholarship Winner
Today we meet Ashley, a 3-sport athlete and future neuroscientist!
How did you come up with your list? I applied to some schools where I could play soccer, some ‘safety’ schools and some academic reach schools, so I had all my bases covered.
What did you do right? I was heavily involved all through high school: I was involved in 3 sports and club soccer, Christian service, on top of working really hard on my academics. Get involved in activities outside of class! Let them know what you’re all about!
What’s your coolness factor? My commitment to Christian service found me working with a local organization called Neighborhood Homework House; I’ve been fundraising for their early literacy programs since well before high school.
Any regrets? The biggest thing is find out what you want out of college. I wasn’t sure what I wanted for college before I started applying, location, programs, etc.
