I am definitely a science and math type of girl. The satisfaction of a precise answer is my favorite thrill. There is no way to avoid it. You’re right, or you’re not. Every equation, formula, or problem is a puzzle with distinct pieces and one outcome. Baking is my favorite puzzle. Unlike cooking, baking is an exact science. Each ingredient that goes into a creation is only added after careful thought and measurement because in the end, it really is a chemical reaction -- more specifically, an endothermic chemical change. As the oven’s heat is absorbed, baking powder’s carbon dioxide bubbles are released leaving you with the fluffy cake you know and love. You could even try baking soda and vinegar and find the same results. Carbon dioxide bubbles are given off, creating that familiar fluffy goodness.
